MyHealthNB Account Privacy Statement

Introduction:

The Department of Health Innovation and eHealthNB Services Branch (eHealthNB) and Service New Brunswick have created and will maintain the applications to help you register and maintain your MyHealthNB account.

Simeio is the third-party vendor and information manager for these applications.

Our commitment:

eHealthNB is committed to protecting your privacy and security at all times by following all applicable privacy and security legislation, including the Personal Health Information Protection and Access Act (PHIPAA) and the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RTIPPA), as well as policies, procedures and best practices and being open and transparent.

Your role:

Although we have made every effort to ensure the security of these applications and the personal information they contain, you can increase their level of protection by following all the guiding principles in the Terms of Use and ensuring your personal computer, mobile device, home internet and/or Wi-Fi connection are secure, and for which eHealthNB is not responsible.

What and why do we collect your information:

What: Registration information: Your name (first/last), date of birth, MyHealthNB registration code, (out of NB) Health Card number, NB Medicare number, NB Medicare expiration date, and postal code.
Why: To validate your identity and associate your identity to your personal health information.

What: A registration code provided at the time your identity was verified using your Medicare card or when a COVID-19 test was done.
Why: To validate your identity.

What: Contact information: Your email address.
Why: To create your account (this will be your username).
This information is considered Personal information (recorded information about an identifiable individual) and is protected under applicable privacy legislation.

What: Information concerning your access to the applications such as IP address (for geolocation only), Device type, Operating system, Browser type and version, Pages visited. This information is automatically collected and is not considered personal information (does not link to individuals).
Why:

  • For security purposes.
  • To customize the services you are using and content you see on our pages and applications.
  • To improve our services.
  • To conduct research.
  • For service announcements or administrative messages.

How do we collect:

Directly from you, when you voluntarily register and create a MyHealthNB account.

Indirectly each time you sign into your MyHealthNB account: we receive and record information in our audit logs from your browser which could include when you logged in, duration of application access, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, ports used, the pages accessed, and actions performed.

Confidentiality

We limit access to personal information about you to our public health professionals, health and technical support staff who, as part of their job, need to know and access that information to provide products or services to you. We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information about you.

Security

eHealthNB has made reasonable security arrangements to protect your personal information against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or disposal of it. In addition, security measures are integrated into the design, implementation and daily operating practices.

Storage and Display

User’s information (Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, Phone Number, Health Card Number) is stored in MyHealthNB to create and maintain their account.

This website may include links to websites operated by other public and/or private sector organizations. eHealthNB is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external websites.

Cookies

cookie is a small text file placed on your hard drive (with your permission) by a web page server. Cookies are used by these websites to identify return visits to a web page but are not used to collect statistical or personal information. You may change the settings on your web browser to deny cookies or warn you of the deposit of cookies.
